VICTORIA

Last weekend I went to Victoria with my family. It was a first trip in Vancouver. I stayed Victoria only two days but it was good opportunity for me to improve my English Skill. I made out the all of schedule and made reservations by myself. We visited to The Butchart Gardens, Legislative Buildings, Craigdarroch Castle, Antique Row and Royal British Columbia Museum and enjoyed seafood restaurant. I felt big difference from schools conversation and real one’s. Still now I sometime translate from Japanese to English. I fully realized translating disturbs my English improvement. I have to change more….

Power Point

I had presentation today. The title is “New income strategies in my university”. This is the first time to use Power Point. The presentation of 15 minutes was over somehow. but as for me it was hardly to be satisfied.

Novels

I started to read novels for a month. Some universities and publishing companies bring out the novels for ESL students. I have already read two novels. I’m reading “Nothing but the Truth”. Heroine is a teenage student at international school in the exiting city of Bangkok. Through some problem and experience, she realizes that she must tell nothing but the Truth.

Interview

Today, I went to the elementary school to have an interview with my children’s Teacher.An interview style was so different from Japanese one. I took about my children and difference point both countries. These times were very useful for me to understand Canadian culture’s.

TOEIC

About Three days ago, I bought a new textbook and started TOEIC study. My target scores are 750 points. It’s very hard for me but if my target is low, my achieve scores are low. So, I decided that’s scores. Fortunately, my listening skill has been improved through this abroad. I can answer most of listening questions. But till now another parts are difficult for me. I believe “I can do it!”

H.R. MacMillan Space Centre

Today I went to H.R. MacMillan Space Centre with my family. In front of this centre, strange object came into my eyes. That’s a Big Curb made of metal. This centre located at waterfront Vanier Park, and I can learn about the stars. We enjoyed a 360-degree show in the planetarium. This equipments is great, but story was little boring.....

The session of February was over

A session of February was over. This session, I took e-Business and Business Writing, there are different from ever session, and the session of this month was really hard. However, sense of accomplishment and a sense of fulfillment were large.
Last day was an activity day. I went to eat soft ice cream with a teacher and some classmate. The teacher of a photograph is Traci who is business Writing teacher. I learned really many things from this teacher. Thank you!!

Public Speaking Program

I had taken Public speaking Program from Jan 2nd to Jan 26th. It’s my fourth session. Purpose is master secrets of effective public speaking. I learned speech organization, delivery techniques and listening skills.
I had to have two presentations during this program. Each presentation time is 15mimites. I took about “The future of Japanese Economy” and ”Ecology and Global Environment ”.

Chinese New Year Parade

Today I went to Chinatown to see New Year Parade. I have never seen such a energetic and a huge Chinese Parade. People celebrate the New Year in their traditional way with a number of great activities and events including Fortune-telling, Tai Qi, Classic Chinese Music, as well as Arts & Crafts and fun demonstrations.

Chapters

I sometimes go to bookstore looking for some English reference. Always I go to Chapters which is most famous bookstore in Downtown and a lot of ESL reference book. If want to know more detail about Chapters please check this : http://www.chaptersliterary.com/NASApp/store/IndexJsp

Already I bought four books. English grammar and HTML reference book. It is difficult for me to learn in English. So kind of these book are useful for me to understand.

Yaletown

Today I went to Yaletown which is Vancouver's trendy and upscale renovated warehouse district. This fresh urban neighbourhood is just an easy walk from the center of downtown.

Yaletown's converted heritage buildings are home to some of city's top fashion and design shops, as well as cutting edge restaurants and bars.

E-business & Web design Program

This session, I take a E-business & Web design Program. This program consists of building a framework of E-commerce Knowledge, coducting online market research and writting a E-bisiness plan.

Seven students are taken this program. This program is little difference from other's. Because It's needed not only English skills but also computer skills. It's hard for me, but I think that it's worth to learn.

My children

In end of last December, my family came to Vancouver. Now I have been enjoying with my family.
I have two children, dautger and son. My dauter's name is Asuka and she is 9 years old. My son's name Kota and he is 6 years old.
Since this January my children have been going to public elementary school which name is Ferris in Richmond. Everyday, they have a ESL lesson about one or two hours. This is for international students. There are a lot of international students in Vancouver. So every school has this programs.

Business English in my school

From this Monday new session was started in my school. It is the fifth session for me.
I have had two programs. One is e-Business & Web Design and another is Business Writting Skill. Both of programs are useful for business persons. I took them as a part of Business Communication Certificate.

About my life

Since last October 2nd, I have stayed in Vancouver. I'll stay about one year. My purpose is to learn Business English. Now I go to ESL(English for Second Language) in Downtown. Today I introduce DownTown.
